A Daylight
Lamp or light box is a therapeutic device that mimics natural sunlight.
Treatment times vary, but usually working in front of a Daylight Lamp for one to
two hours per day, will dramatically improve the symptoms of a condition known
as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Depending on the intensity of the light
being emitted from the Daylight Lamp, some SAD sufferers show marked improvement
after only ½ hour per day.
During the
darker winter months, many people experience SAD, with symptoms that include
depression and lack of energy due to the lack of sunlight. Most individuals
start to exhibit signs of the disorder starting in September and won’t
experience much relief until April or May. A Daylight Lamp is the perfect
solution. Simply reading, knitting, eating or doing any other stationary
activity while seated in front of the Daylight Lamp every day for a prescribed
time will treat the symptoms and provide relief. Using a Daylight Lamp can even
eliminate the need for anti-depressants, which are more commonly prescribed in
the winter months.
Ask your
doctor about SAD and whether or not you should purchase a Daylight Lamp. Or go
online and visit the many Internet sites devoted to this common disorder.
